Walk with me

Untitled, originally uploaded by Carina Potts.

Let me just start by saying, I hate exercising. I feel great afterwards but I don't like trying to find the motivation to do it. My mom is always telling me about the benefits of at least just walking every day, problem is, I get bored just walking. She suggested to me to go on photo walks, to walk and bring my camera. What a great idea! At first I thought about it and wondered if carrying my camera would be an annoyance, but then instead of being my over analyzing self, I decided just to take it with me and see what would happen. First time I did it was around my neighborhood, capturing the little daisies and other flowering plants that I would have normally driven by and not seen. Yesterday I walked the beach (which is great exercise!) for an hour and a half at sunrise, and I am so glad I did! It was a beautiful, calm, and pastel morning. How did I get so lucky to live in such a beautiful place?

Magnolia Tree

Untitled, originally uploaded by Carina Potts.

There are magnolias everywhere where I live, and right now they're blooming. I love the different colors on their leaves, green and sometimes an orangey color underneath. They get big beautiful white blooms, not seen in this photo, this was just the leaves of a magnolia tree.

Never Lost

Untitled, originally uploaded by Carina Potts.

I don't do photography to get rich (obviously), or to impress anyone. I do it for me. It gets me through some rough times, helps me to have an outlet for the frustrations and stresses in my life. There's nothing better than losing myself wandering around early in the morning taking pictures or working on a single photo for an hour just to get the right look that I see in my head. I'm fortunate to have wonderful people in my life that inspire me to create.

Simply delightful

Untitled, originally uploaded by Carina Potts.

I found these little flowers when I was walking around my neighborhood. I'm also trying to venture out and do more creative things with my photos, like adding textures, trying different colors, etc.
